All year, every Tuesday. All Year. 9am Start. Walks generally 1 – 1 ½ hours FREE event.
Cuppa at café if close by or thermos. Car pool from Newham Mechanics Hall. Walkers are advised by email.
Get some exercise in a friendly, sociable atmosphere. The Newham Walking Group has been going for about 11 years and is welcoming and popular. It has led to friendships and involvement in other social activities. NB Dogs on leads welcome
On our carefully planned walks we cover places in the local area and occasionally further afield. Some favourite walks are: Jim Road, Newham; the Domino walk at Trentham; Conglomerate Gully Riddells Creek and Mt Charlie Reserve, Kerrie Valley.
The group is nominally coordinated by Fran Spain but we welcome suggestions from all members. Fran has been active in the Newham community for years serving on many committees. She has been the driving force behind several recent small-town initiatives, including the 2014 “Pig Project”. Fran has lead the Newham Walkers for nine years, juggling this with a working life. She has been a member of the Garden Club and of the town’s CFA and, not having enough to do, joined the committee of the House in October 2014.
To enjoy our free programs we request you become a member of the Woodend Neighbourhood House. Other benefits of being a member of the House include a 10% discount on one course per year and free access to Wifi at the House. Membership only costs $5 per year.
