Developing our storytelling skills improves our ability to communicate, and helps us explain why we believe something, and why we have our values and passions, and we come to better understand our lives and who we are. And its fun.
Level Two: In this one-day intensive you will find new story material from your life, deepen your understanding of story structure, theme and techniques, and learn how to create and convey characters and dramatic expression. You will tell and listen to stories in pairs and small groups and polish, rehearse and tell one story and receive individual feedback.
A note pad and a pen
As a former Aussie rules footballer (St Kilda City Sharks No. 25 jumper), now with plans to take my simple crocheting talents to new heights and crochet a womb for the Celebration Day for Girls, I have a mixed skill set.
I am a former lawyer, community development worker and local government bureaucrat. Currently I am Vice President of Storytelling Australia -Victoria, mother of three and carer for my mother with dementia, and despite all this, on some days I still think I don’t have any stories! But I do.
I like nothing better than to tell a story I know well to an appreciative audience, or my dog Leo, or even our goats if they’ll stop bleating long enough to listen. Recently I became sought after for my advice on making water kefir, and once, for a short while in Macedon, I was known as the garlic-growing queen.
