About the Event
What's it all about?
School-aged children in prep to grade 6 are invited to make and create a jar terrarium in this fun workshop delivered by Creative Me.
Terrariums are a super cool, tactile way to engage with nature on a small scale. This is a workshop that offers a nice mix of structure and freedom.
After looking at a few examples and discussing what terrariums are and how they work, we will choose a glass container and a few succulents from our collection. To thrive in the long run, plants will need a mixture of things in their little habitat - rocks, charcoal, moss - added in a certain order. The plant itself and any creative addition (animals/crystals/bones/etc) go in last.
This workshop promotes autonomous decision making, fine motor skills, cognitive processing and creative confidence.
Children will take home their finished terrarium at the end of the session.
Who will be leading the session?
Creative Me is a mobile art “un-school” working in the Macedon Ranges and beyond, our clients ranging from preschoolers to seniors. We run joyful creative workshops focused on process and the pleasure of making. We aim to inspire everyone to embrace their inner artist and grow in creative confidence.
