What it is all about?
Rag rugs have been around for centuries. They’re an ideal use of up-cycled fabric, and they’re so sturdy that they can last a really long time.
Come along to the Undercroft and learn how to make your own rug and get started on your latest craft addiction.
If you’ve been to a previous class and would like to come back for a refresher and finish your rug Vicki would love to see you.
What will we cover?
- Different shapes of rugs
- Preparing your fabric strips
- Cutting your fabric
- Assembling the rug
What do I need to bring?
- Your choice of fabrics or a single doona cover to cut up – chose a colour or colours that you’d like for your rug. The Woodend Op shops often have doona covers for sale
- A No. 9 or 10 crochet hook (available from loose change bargains shop $4.95 for a set)
- Your lunch – there’s a fridge and microwave at the House or pop into one of our local cafés.
Who will be teaching?
Vicki is your teacher. She’s got loads of craft experience and has been a volunteer and a tutor with the House for a number of years. She’s a wonderful teacher and full of energy.
