About the Event

What's it all about?

During this three week Mindfulness and Meditation introductory course, learn simple mindfulness skills to help you experience deep relaxation.

Each session will consist of:

  • Meditation Skills - including breathing for relaxation, mindful eating, turning down the inner critic, managing emotions, exploring mantras/affirmations
  • Meditation Practice - deep relaxation and meditation using guided visualisation

The specific skills will depend upon the needs and interests of the participants but will include a combination of breathing, relaxation, body awareness, visualisation, poetry, colour, music and movement.

Who will be teaching?

Mary Chandler's initial training was a primary school teacher. She studied psychology and became a registered psychologist, before retiring. Mary taught ESL (English as a Second Language) to adults part time for many years.

Mary has pratised yoga for most of her adult life and incorporates techniques learnt from her yoga into her mindfulnes and meditation courses. She utilises Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, a mindfulness based therapy that applies techniques from classical meditation to the management of anxiety and stress. Mary taught Mindfulness and Meditation at Wonga Park Community College for ten years prior to relocating to the Macedon Ranges.
