Mahjong (Term 4 2026)

What's it all about?

Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy and calculation and involves a degree of chance. The game is played with a set of tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols in groups of four. At the Woodend Neighbourhood House, the group play the western style of Mahjong.

This group is for experienced players.

For beginners, we will be running a new players course in Term 4 over 9 weeks. The first two weeks will be held on a Wednesday morning, with the remaining 7 weeks running concurrently to the regular Tuesday afternoon class (see exceptions below). Please click here for more information click here.

Term 4 2026 Information

Mahjong generally runs on a Tuesday afternoon in the Rodney Snell Function Room between 12.30pm and 3pm (2.5hour session).

In term 4 2026, the term runs for 9 weeks, starting on Tuesday 6th October to Tuesday 8th December, with the following exceptions:

• No session on Tuesday 3rd November due to the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday

• Session moved to Monday 16th November due to Low Sensory Voting at the Woodend Neighbourhood House on Tuesday 17th November.

The cost for the 9 week term is $45 (9 x 2.5hour sessions at $5 per session). Payment can be made online or in person at the Woodend Neighbourhood House.
