Belly Dance is a fun low-impact dance workout that improves body strength and tone; especially core, buttocks, legs and arms. Adult weekly classes are for all ages, sizes and stages of fitness. Dance techniques aided by strength and flexibility exercises can be modified for those less-able.
Each class starts with a 20 min warm-up followed by 40 mins of dance technique combinations and concludes with a 15 min cool-down.
As a beginner you will learn the following techniques:
Intermediate/Advanced students need at least 6 to 12 months belly dance experience as they will be learning choreographies created by me from the full Syllabus Levels 1 to 4.
Please bring a yoga mat and water bottle. Dance shoes & hip belt if you have them (optional), you can wear bare feet. Please arrive five minutes before ready to start your session.
Deb brings with her a wealth of experience as she has been learning the art of belly dance since 2001 and has been teaching as an accredited instructor from 2003 in Woodend and surrounding areas. She has studied with many teachers renowned for their Middle Eastern Dance expertise. Deb has travelled to Egypt to learn from master choreographers and teacher/performers to further her knowledge of this ancient dance. Proficient in many MED styles such as Egyptian Orientale, Beladi, Alexandrian, Khaleegi, Turkish, Lebanese & Saiidi – Men’s and Ladies. Along with props such as Veil, Double veil, Zill/Sagat (finger cymbals), Cane/stick and Sword. Deb is also a professional performer and has performed at many charities, special and corporate events.
