About the Event

What's it all about?

Kirtan (keer-tahn) is the coming together and chanting or singing of sacred mantras aimed at the easy purification and stimulation of the heart and mind in connection with a higher stratum. Ancient Sanskrit mantras are sung in call and response and accompanied by traditional instruments creating a unique ambience conducive to mental peace, spiritual inspiration and the expansion of love and acceptance.

Offered at each session also is a delicious home-cooked vegetarian meal created in the line of the kirtan tradition.

Beginners and experienced kirtan goers alike are welcome, as is anyone just curious to look on and listen. Also welcome is anyone or many who enjoy unique food or even just hungry! Everyone is welcome for one or both of the activities. It's an easy-going fun and fulfilling space open to those from all walks of life.

Entry is by donation.

Who will be leading the group?

Facilitators Robyn and Paul Fox have lived in Woodend since 2008 and raised a family here; Paul originally lived and went to school in the area. 20 years ago Paul discovered the Hare Krishna philosophy and way of life and spent 10-15 years imbibing the sacred tradition. Recognising the benefits of the practices of kirtan and cooking sanctified vegetarian food (prasadam) Paul and Robyn have gathered like-minded friends together to form a small group. But fun is in numbers so everyone is welcome to join us and experience what kirtan is all about.
