About the Event
There are many ways you can support the Woodend Neighbourhood House in our mission to help locals facing tough times this Christmas season.
- Donate a Gift: we are gratefully accepting donations of gifts and presents to pass on to those in need of Christmas cheer. Last year we noted the generosity of our community to provide toys for pre-school and primary aged children, however we’d love to receive gifts for teenagers and adults in our community, too.
- Fill a Reverse Advent Calendar box: Our hugely popular Reverse Advent Calendar Appeal is back for its third year. Unlike a regular Advent Calendar where the focus is on receiving a treat every day, the Reverse Advent Calendar encourages participants to place an item a day into the box in the lead up to Christmas (non-perishable food, toiletries, small gifts or a Christmas treat). Those interested in participating can register via our website. Boxes can be picked up from the Woodend Neighbourhood House during opening hours and are due back to the House by Friday 15th December.
- Donate to the Food Bank: Donations of pantry staples, cleaning products or personal hygiene items are very welcome through the collection bins in Coles and IGA in Woodend or in person at reception at the Woodend Neighbourhood House. The Woodend Community Food Bank is seeing increased demand this Christmas season.
- Donate money: We also welcome cash donations from local individuals or businesses to help support our gift giving and food bank appeal. Donations can be made either in person at the House or via bank transfer. Contact the Woodend Neighbourhood House for more information on how to donate.
If you know someone in our community who would benefit from receiving a gift or reverse advent calendar box, or you would like to make a request for yourself, please get in touch with the Woodend Neighbourhood House on Monday to Friday between 9am – 3pm via telephone 5427 1845 or email us.
