As part of our work to build connections in Woodend, the Woodend Neighbourhood House invites you to come and hear from Steve Pascoe
At our last gathering of local community connecters in October 2020, a suggestion was made, to hear from someone about how things can be done well in communities after disaster, so that we come out stronger and not divided. Steve Pascoe is the perfect person for this.
His own property in Strathewen was devastated by the 2009 bushfires and Steve was one of the community leaders who established and led the Strathewen Community Renewal Association. This gave voice to local people in decisions about their town.
10 years later, through his personal connections he was invited in to Mallacoota after the 2019/20 bushfires and has walked alongside them in their processes. Steve has been involved in emergencies for over 30 years, as a volunteer and as a professional in both CFA and local government.
Steve is a dynamic presenter, and you will be invited to ask any questions you like. Stories from Strathewen can be found on the ‘Big Stories’ site http://www.bigstories.com.au/. This is a free event, and Steve is volunteering his time because he is passionate about the connectedness of local communities.
Due to COVID conditions, registrations are required. Please register your attendance only if you plan on attending, at:
