Belly Dance, with its lively music, has a long, colourful and exotic history. It is also an enjoyable, low-impact dance workout that improves body strength and tone; especially core, buttocks, legs and arms. Adult classes are for all ages, sizes and levels of fitness. Strength and flexibility exercises help the less-able to master dance techniques.
Troupe is for participants with at least 6-12 months of belly dance experience.
Members of the Troupe class will learn Choreography and relative techniques which includes props such as Veil, Double Veil, Wings, Cane and Zills (finger cymbals). You will also learn to identify different Arabic rhythms and how to relate this to your belly dance movement using either choreography drills or improvisation.
Please bring: Yoga mat and water bottle. Dance shoes & hip belt (optional). Bare feet OK. Arrive five minutes before session time
Deb has been learning the art of belly dance since 2001 and has been teaching as an accredited instructor for men and women since 2003 in Woodend and surrounding areas. To further her knowledge of this ancient dance, Deb has studied in Egypt with master choreographers and teacher-performers and is proficient in styles such as Egyptian Orientale, Beladi, Alexandrian, Khaleegi, Turkish, Lebanese and Saiidi. She uses props such as the veil, double veil, Zill/Sagat (finger cymbals), cane/stick and sword. Deb has performed at many charities, special and corporate events.
