With three categories and generous prizes this summer holiday competition is for the whole community.
We’re excited to have received funding from the Macedon Ranges Shire Council People and Places grant to develop a master plan for the Community Hub back garden, the garden behind the Neighbourhood House and Cobaw Community Health at 47-49 Forest Street, Woodend.
Our vision: Meet, Play, Learn and Celebrate
We would like the garden to be a community space that:
- Is fun, inviting and colourful
- Is safe and accessible for young children and people with disabilities
- Promotes healthy living and exercise
- Has outdoor furniture and structures for outdoor learning, outdoor eating, and events (festivals, bands, parties, etc.)
- Promotes environmentally sustainable gardening practices
- Has spaces to relax and enjoy the outdoors
- Has a strong a sense of identity

Get creative over the summer break and come up with a mural design to represent Nature and the Woodend community. There are three prizes on offer $70 $50 and $30 vouchers. Find out more
We’re after your ideas for a Community Entertainment Area and design for a new Fence and Entranceway to the garden. Let your imagination run! We’ve got a cash prize of $200 up for grabs. Find out more
This is the big one worth $500! We want to you transform our garden site into a fun and inviting space, where the community can meet, learn, play and celebrate. Follow our brief and develop a new Master Plan for our community garden, and as the winner, have your vision become an integral part of our garden! Find out more
How to enter
Entries close at midday on 28 February 2017. Entries should be no bigger than an A3 page (or two A4 pages). They can be submitted by snail mail to: 47 Forest Street, Woodend 3442 or email to [email protected]
Please include your name, email address, phone number, postcode, category and age if you’re in the primary category.
All entries need to be in by 28 February. Entries will be shortlisted by the project team from the community hub. Finalists’ will then be judged in a community vote. Drop in to the Neighbourhood House, see the entries and cast your vote and we’ll announce the winners on 10 March 2017.
The winning designs will then be given to a professional and incorporated into the master plan drawings.
Come along and see us on Saturday 4 February. We’ll be at outside the library at the Woodend Farmers’ Market from 9am to 1pm and will be doing a site tour at 11am
