During the June/July school holidays we’re excited to be offering a brand-new Art Merges Science program with local teacher Kate McCabe.
What is Art Merges Science?
Art Merges Science is a program designed to engage pre-school and primary school children in STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Maths.
During the holidays we will run 12 sessions, four for pre-schoolers and eight for primary school children. Each class consists of three parts; explore, investigate and create. Classes will run during both weeks of the holidays.
Junior Scientists: Suitable for children aged 3.5 to 5 attending 3 or 4 year old kindergarten and not yet at school. Children will investigate what a scientist does and explore how to use their senses to compare, measure and look for similarities and differences. They will have the opportunity to create a working kaleidoscope to take home. This one hour class runs from 9am to 10am and costs $16 ($10 plus $6 for materials). Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the whole class.
Rainbows and Fairies: Suitable for children aged 5 to 12 attending primary school. Children will explore the real science behind some fairy legends, investigate different ways of making rainbows, and have the opportunity to create a magnetic fairy wand and miniature fairy
garden. This two hour class runs from 11am to 1pm or 2pm to 4pm and costs $30 ($20 plus $10 for materials).
Robots and Rockets: Suitable for children aged 5 to 12 attending primary school. Children will investigate simple chemical reactions, aerodynamics and electric circuits. They will have the opportunity to create a small working robot and a maze to run it in. This two hour class runs from 11am to 1pm or 2pm to 4pm and costs $30 ($20 plus $10 for materials).
