Mums in Woodend donate their pre-loved baby items to people in need.
Mums in Woodend have generously donated their pre-loved baby items to the Melbourne charity St Kilda Mums.
Angela Van Dam, Coordinator at Woodend Neighbourhood House, had a pram and a bassinette to donate so organised a collection at the Neighbourhood House.
“Mums are very generous but one of the challenges we always face is how to get the donations to St Kilda. I contacted Evan Young at Central Deliveries to see if he could help us out and he very generously offered his van for free.”
“The Neighbourhood House collected the donations and today Evan is taking a van load to St Kilda for us; he’s got prams, bassinettes, baby carriers and loads of clothes,” she added.
St Kilda Mums is a volunteer-run not-for-profit organisation. St Kilda Mums re-home new and pre-loved baby goods and nursery equipment to families in need. They believe that by reusing and recycling much-loved babies’ and children’s gear, they not only share the joy of motherhood with each other, but save the earth’s precious resources too. These donations are distributed to families experiencing hardship in Melbourne and surrounding towns through partnerships with maternal and child health nurses and local social service agencies.
