About Us

Woodend Neighbourhood House was established in 1983 following the Ash Wednesday bushfires, at a time when many people needed support. A not-for-profit organisation, it has been at its present location – 47 Forest Street, Woodend – since 2002 after the building was donated to the Macedon Ranges Shire Council by Margery Baker, to be used for and by the community.

In 2006, the building was extended to form the Woodend Hub and is shared with the Macedon Ranges Sustainability Group. The WNH works with other Hub organisations in the adjoining building, including Cobaw Community Health, Maternal Child Health Service and Woodend Toy Library.

The house runs a range of classes, events and activities for all ages and has a strong volunteer input. It also provides a range of services and venue hire.

The House receives a small amount of funding through Adult Community & Further Education to offer pre-accredited training options and the rest of its programs are built around the needs of the local community.
